Earlier this evening, Vancouver was treated to a fine musical and entertainment spectacle by the world famous Video Games Live (VGL). I had a chance to drop by the pre-concert inside the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and it was rocking with fun activities, including gaming stations presented by Future Shop , where the “big three” (Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation, Xbox) had their consoles laid out to give attendees a chance to play the latest games, partake in a Guitar Hero or gaming costume contest, and more.
The gaming contest always interests me; I’m amazed at how creative enthusiasts get to play out in real life their favourite gaming characters. I chatted with more than 20 people sporting costumes – from Castle Crashers to guys dressed as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare soldiers, Bioshock, to the usual brothers who make appearances at VGL, Mario and Luigi. Check out my video behind the backstage curtains to see exactly who showed up tonight:
I was thoroughly impressed by all the costumes worn tonight, but one guy really stood out – a masked man dressed as Earthworm Jim who claimed he crawls his way around in the city of Vancouver. I liked his outfit, but did the audience who votes on who wins the best costume at VGL Vancouver agree with my selection? Watch the video and find out who wins and what she/he got:
If you’re curious to see what VGL is all about, check out my previous vlog entry which provides a flavour of the magic this concert brings to audiences worldwide. Also, click here to see VGL's complete tour schedule.
