I do frequently talk about the -- sadly Toronto-only, unless you're willing to make the potentially massive trip from potentially distant parts of Canada -- Hand Eye Society here at the Tech Blog, so you know whether to tune in our out by this point. However! If you're within spitting distance of the Unit Bar at 1198 Queen West (note: we're assuming you can spit tens of miles) this Thursday, May 27th there will be another social event.

Said event will feature Brandon Boyer, a journalist from "the internets" (most recently seen floating around in the background at Boing Boing) and the new Chairman of the Independent Games Festival. The Hand Eye Society calls him "a hero of the people, friend to video game creators, a curator & broadcaster par excellence," and this is as good a description as any. Though full disclosure; he's a personal friend. In fact, if I wanted to, I could rifle through is bag right now, as it's sitting next to my couch (he isn't here.)

I'm not going to do that, though, not even for your amusement.

However, there's more! The most recently confirmed guest is MESSHOF, otherwise known as Mark Essen Hoffman, creator of games such as Flywrench , Randy Balma Mnicipal Abortionist and The Thrill of Combat . He's recently been picked for Vice and Intel's The Creators Project , alongside creatives such as Spike Jonze and Peaches.

So yeah, he's a pretty big deal, and visitors to the Hand Eye Social will get a glimpse of his latest game, Nidhogg, an "action-heavy sword fighting video game designed specifically for two players to play competitively in a social environment."

"It’s insanely fun & super stylish, a bit like Jordan Mechner’s original Prince of Persia by way of Body Movin’ era Beastie Boys ," says Hand Eye representative Craig D. Adams.

So, if you're interested, Thursday, May 27th, 7 p.m. at the Unit Bar (1198 Queen West).
