Before the rush of E3 coverage begins, time to write up a game that I had the privilege of playing a few weeks ago here in Toronto but have (for some reason) failed to write up yet. It's Crackdown 2, and it's every bit as good as I hoped it'd be. Read more...

2010 is the year that Rock Band goes into overdrive with the release of Rock Band 3. On top of the 1500 tracks available in the Rock Band family, Rock Band 3 is going to sport an incredible 83-song setlist with songs from some of the best bands of all time. This time we’ve got bands from across the planet AND bands that have never before been seen in a music game. Harmonix and EA have promised that weekly DLC releases are going to continue into the future as well.

Tonight WordPress.com and the various sites hosted on its VIP service had "a moment" and were off line for a bit(Techcrunch and ReadWriteWeb). Given WordPress.com's generally awesome record of reliability, some might wonder if things are slipping there. Although I could certainly be considered biased for most things WordPress related, I have to say that calling out any large host is touchy stuff. Really, these are pretty complex systems and when things start to go wrong, they can go epicly wrong extremely fast. In the end I think what separates a good host from a bad host is how they handle the downtime and then how they explain it. Read more...
The 3D gaming stations impressed passerbys. And there were many good reasons to stop in your tracks. In addition to seeing or playing new 3D gaming titles like Super Stardust HD 3D and MotorStorm Pacific Rift on Playstation 3, attendees got the chance to game against or watch the wizard-like skills of pro gamer, Kevin Garcia (aka "DARKscorpion," his gamer tag). Canada's major television broadcast providers, Cogeco, Rogers, Shaw and Telus announced they're all broadcasting the 2010 FIFA World Cup in 3D, thanks to partnerships they've formed with the CBC. Read more...
Perhaps I was spoiled by the brilliance of the app that was launched by TSN for The Masters, but I was expecting something equally special in the iTunes store this week as the World Cup prepares to kick off in South Africa this weekend. Read more...
I’ve written before about the flawed state-of-the-art that exists with eBook readers. It all relates to business model and DRM. Though today, I think I may change my tune, maybe just modify it a bit - thanks to iTunes (believe it or not). Read more...
Zeno Clash is a weird looking game. And a weird playing game. And, honestly, the story is pretty weird, too. When you get down to it, Zeno Clash, I guess, feels like a game that could only have been developed in Chile, the country that birthed Alejandro Jodorowsky, the artist behind such undoubtedly weird films as El Topo and The Holy Mountain. Earlier today, Apple kicked off their World Wide Developers Conference with the traditional keynote presentation by Steve Jobs. Tris did an excellent job of live blogging the event and I posted my initial (and somewhat personally oriented) perspective of the announcement of iOS4 on my own blog. But then, a bit of time passed... But after a bit of thought, I realized that in my earlier post, I tended to dwell on what I, with a 2nd generation iPod Touch, wouldn’t be able to realize out of this free update because my hardware simply couldn’t take advantage of the features that newer hardware could. Things like Multitasking, Bluetooth keyboards, etc.

Okay, the iPhone4 is awesome, there is little doubt of that. Unfortunately we here in Canada still have to wait about a month (maybe more) to get our hands on it. Wait, there is iOS4! That's awesome too! Oh, right not until late June. The new iBooks, with notes and PDFs! Ah, right it comes with iOS4 in June. Well jeez, what's left? Safari5 and, yeah, it's fast.

This year we're expecting: A new iPhone OS 10.6.4 Safari 5 And probably some other surprises as well. One thing for sure, though. Keyboards will be overheating with all the typing. Read more...
As Mathew noted last week, Microsoft Canada made the groundbreaking announcement that they have partnered with the Children's Miracle Network to launch Mission 4 Miracles (M4M), an initiative designed to raise funds for 14 children's hospitals across Canada. I was there to witness the announcement live and had the opportunity to snap a number of photos and chat with the organizers. Read more...

It’s rare that you can actually point to a single element in a film and say “if this wasn’t here it would be a much better movie”. In the case of The Wolfman it’s Benicio Del Toro; I enjoyed everything else but I was so completely underwhelmed by the lead that it was an effort to look past him to see a movie I wanted to enjoy. Fortunately the Blu-ray version of The Wolfman has a great deal more to offer on top of the film, making it a pretty cool disc to have in your collection. Read more...
I hate racing games. I love blur. From Bizarre Creations (the same people that birthed Project Gotham Racing and Geometry Wars) this multi-platform racing combat game stands alone on the market as an insane mashup between modern shooters and kart racing. At least one online forum has dubbed it “Call of Burnout 2: Modern Mario Kart” - and they’re right. This isn’t Modnation Racers and it certainly isn’t Split/Second. blur is a game all its own and it’s really, really good.
