It's one thing to have a nice TV in your home with beautiful picture, but audio can be just as important for a home theater. You can purchase a high end receiver and then find speakers to go along with it, or you can take the guess work out of it and just purchase what is commonly known as a home theater in a box. These bundle often include a receiver / dvd or Blu-ray player alwong with speakers all in one package. Typically they are much more affordable then purchasing the componants seperately and make decision making a lot easier. Looking at purchasing one as a gift? When Steve Jobs first mentioned the new Mac App Store, I felt like telling him ‘Hey Steve, I could’ve suggested that to you years ago’. The idea of a one-stop shop for Mac apps isn’t new, and the fact it took Apple this long to recognize its potential just shows that they don’t always get it right first.

With the release of Apple’s iMovie 11 they’ve done something rather incredible. You won’t notice it today, or tomorrow, but iMovie 11 is going to change behaviours of people around the world over the next few years, and you’re going to start seeing it almost every day.
How did they do it? Trailer mode and the rise of the vid-bite.

GPS may have been invented by the military to track enemies, but for those of us travelling to new places or who get lost often - they're a godsend. Sure, they're great in the car, but there are other places to take these handy pocket guides, like the golf course and the wilderness.
Here are some of my favourite GPS gadgets and accessories.

In less than an hour from now, Apple will kick off its "Back to the Mac" event and I'll be reporting here on the Future Shop Tech blog with all the info.
If you have a Mac running Snow Leopard you can watch the event live thanks to Apple.
I won't be using Cover It Live this time, but something more like the "old fashioned" live blogging by updating a post. Check back in about 40 minutes for the start of the fun!
It's hard to believe but not everyone wants or needs a Blu-ray player. Many DVD players on the market these days upconvert standard definition DVDs to 1080 high definition, a great way to watch your older movies you've been collecting. The best part is DVD players are very affordable, even the portable ones have come way down in price. Take a look at my picks for the best DVD players to give this holiday season.

It had to happen sooner or later. After HP absorbed Palm into his massive organization, it was obvious that HP would likely stop making its own handsets and use Palm’s expertise to create something better. Today, they announced that webOS 2.0 is coming and the Palm Pre 2 will be the first device to run it.

While I've been using the BlackBerry Torch, I've been kinda let down by the browser, but I don't think it's really RIM's fault. See, the browser is actually rather peppy and renders screens quickly. The scroll is fast and ... it's tiny.
That's the problem.

Back when I was a kid this time of year a favourite pass-time was checking
out the Wishbook, Radio Shack catalogue, and Popular Science’s

thoughts on a few interesting looking items to check out (either
in-store or online) for holiday gifts...
I've been using the BlackBerry Torch on and off for the past few days. Today, since HootSuite came out with their BlackBerry app, I needed to give it a little more of a thorough use and my first thought was...
What the heck did they do to the keyboard?!?

I play a lot of video games. I really dig on a solid challenge, like Demon’s Souls (it crushes me, regularly), and I’ve been known to play Team Fortress 2 until the urge to ragequit has me stabbing at the power button on my PC. Sometimes you need to detox from all of that. That detox is called Kirby’s Epic Yarn.
Let’s be straight up: if you’ve got kids, get them Kirby’s Epic Yarn. If you want to relax, get Kirby’s Epic Yarn. If you want to play an incredibly fun, totally easy, and just plain beautiful Nintendo Wii game, get Kirby’s Epic Yarn.

Our phones are the most active gadget we carry. From checking email to surfing and tweeting and even the odd phone call - the muscle memory we have to make them work is instant.
Change the hardware and you have to relearn how to use the device - it's not easy. I test drove 3 new phones from
Telus
this week, but they never had a chance.
It’s been almost two weeks since it launched, but Skype is now available on Android phones using version 2.1 or higher. With the iPhone already locked up, this move will put even more people in touch with each other at reduced costs. Unfortunately, the launch has come with a few bugaboos that need to be worked out.

While Nintendo has been busy updating franchises like Mario, Metroid and Zelda, one character hasn't received nearly the same love. While Kirby has had a plethora of games on Nintendo's handheld devices, there hasn't been a full-fledged console game featuring Kirby (Super Smash Bros. aside) game since 2003. Yes it's been seven years. Now Nintendo is bringing the pink puffball back on the Wii.
Kirby's Epic Yarn sees the franchise undergo a complete overhaul. Not only are there new gameplay elements, the graphics give the game a new child-like feel which ooze charm. But is there a solid action game hidden beneath the cute and colourful patchwork appearance?
